FREE OLD MOVIES
http://emol.org/movies/catalog/index.html This website offers free public domain movies to your computer or can be downloaded to a media device. Since most of these movies are public domain, the rights to use them are free. The films are from the 1930’s to 1960’s but are fantastic for a family movie night and guaranteed a good time for your kids (maybe not teenagers, unless they are feeling retro cool!). As a parent I love these old movies cause I know that they won’t have too much violence, swearing or morally questionable acts, which makes me feel great. Also, I’m a bit of a nostalgic sap and I loved these movies as kids and I still love them.
They have cartoons like Bugs Bunny, Betty Boop, Shirley Temple and other classic greats.
FREE INTERNET PHONE CALLS
While I figure most people know about using Skype, which is an internet phone that gives you free computer to computer calls, you may not know that there are a host of other free services out there that offer PC/Mac to phone telephone calls. This is incredible. I remember the days when an international call cost hundreds of dollars, especially if it was eeh hem, the late 1980’s and you were calling a boyfriend oversees. But, I just Skyped with my friend in Spain for over an hour and it cost me….nada! Zilch! Zero dollars, this is rather incredible in my book.
GOOGLE VOICE is a Google sponsored service that provides telephone services on a host of different phone platforms, like your computer, home phone, iphone, cell phone etc. and by using one google number you can have any phone or device you chose answer the call…FOR FREE…very very cool.
iCall.com is another free internet phone service that allows you to call from your computer to any phone using free downloadable software. Again, these are very cool features, especially if you are calling loved ones that are far away.
And last but not least.
Oovoo.com which is a competitor to Skype that allows you to make internet calls all over the world for free. Oovoo also allows you to have up to six participants in one call. Again this is technology that only a few years ago cost thousands of dollars and needed to be held in special audio/visual arenas and now you can video call a multitude of friends, family and co-workers for free from the comfort of your own home. WOW.
